本田在印度建第二家汽车厂
日本本田汽车公司决定投资2亿美元在印度建立一家汽车生产厂,旨在在快速发展的南亚市场上占据有利地位。
新工厂是本田在印度的第二家生产厂,将建在印度首都新德里附近。
据悉,2009年上半年投产后的最初生产能力为5万辆,最终将扩展至年产20万辆以上,成为本田在印度的主力工厂。
本田公司表示,根据印度汽车市场的发展情况,新工厂将以生产小型车为主。
2007年,本田在印度现有工厂的汽车年生产能力将达到10万辆。新工厂的生产能力达到高峰后,本田在印度总的汽车年产能力将达到30万辆以上。
在截至2007年3月的这个财年里,本田公司希望能在印度销售6万辆汽车,这要比上个财年的4.3万辆有所增加。
Japan's Honda Motors plans to set up a 200- million-dollar car plant in India to take advantage of the South Asian country's rapidly-growing vehicle market.
The new plant will be Honda's second in India and will be built in the western state of Rajasthan, the Press Trust of India reported.
The new facility, to be located in the state of Rajasthan in northwestern India, will be capable of turning out 50,000 passenger cars a year and is slated to come onstream by mid-2009, company officials said.
The plant is expected to focus on the manufacture of small cars, seen as the fastest-growing segment of the Indian market.
The company has announced to increase the production capacity 100,000 cars by the end of 2007. Once the automaker takes the new factory to its maximum capacity, its total output in India will expand fivefold to 300,000 units annually.
Honda hopes to sell 60,000 cars in India in the current fiscal year to March 2007, up from 43,000 cars a year earlier, the news agency said.
